WE’RE HERE TO
I spent 25 years working as an IT recruiter which included ten years as co-owner of an executive search firm. The more I worked with people who found themselves at various stages of the job transition process, the more motivated I was to help make their transition a successful one. I would find myself putting a great deal of energy into preparing candidates for an interview, helping them negotiate a higher salary and ultimately transitioning into a new job. Candidates who listened and followed my guidelines generally wound up with a job offer they wanted to accept.
Eventually, I decided I wanted to make an even greater impact on peoples’ careers, which led to enrolling in the Coach Training Institute where I became a certified Co-active Coach. I opened up a career coaching practice and started working with individuals who wanted help trying to figure out next steps for their careers. Although my specialty has always been interview preparation and salary negotiation, I also enjoy assisting people who strive for job fulfillment and meaningful work. As a matter of fact, that’s one of the commonalities that Terry and I have together, which is why we decided to create Job Greatness.
I’m probably pretty similar to you; I have a family, a job, pets (okay, I love animals), and friends. Where I may differ is in my attitude. I’ve always been a very positive person, the glass is always half full which means I’m optimistic most of the time, I try to see the best of everyone and opportunities everywhere. I wake up in the morning that way and go to bed at night the same way…
So, in my 30 + years in the corporate world (mostly IT Management with a little Transportation Management thrown in to shake things up), I’ve been a mentor and coach to all types of people on 4 continents. I really enjoy working with people in that capacity. Plus, I’m good at it. Which prompted me to enroll into a Coaching Certification program, the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching. From there, I got certified as a professional coach and opened my own business. Now, my favorite part of being a Career and Life Coach is the interview part.
Tom and I truly love helping others get a job by having a stellar interview!
